I get text messages and phone calls all the time from parents of athletes who are struggling with the mental aspect of their sport. Many parents can’t really explain the reasoning their athlete is under performing. The usually say, “” He trains great, but don’t compete well.”” Most people don’t understand that sports require mental training as well as physical training. The mental side of sports is most often neglected, at least until a problem arises.”

Reggie knows first-hand how difficult it is for a young athlete. He had no offers after his senior year in high school and elected to take the junior college route in order to continue his education. Reggie’s college coaches made a huge impact on him and his success. Growing up in a single parent household, those relations were invaluable to Reggie’s success. After two successful seasons, major D1 colleges were calling. Ultimately, he chose the University of Kentucky and played his final two collegiate seasons there.

Being a student-athlete Reggie learned early on what it takes to become successful. Dedication, commitment and an open mind have helped Reggie succeed after pro sports. Reggie knew his calling was to help give back to young student athletes in his community. In 2007 Reggie founded Next Level Academy. Next Level was established to assist young athletes with mental and physical tools for success on and off the field. Reggie started off with a few clients but within a year was able to open up a training facility. Reggie had a passion to transform the athletes he trained into motivated individuals. 15 years later Reggie continues to assist student athletes with the tools of success. Stay Recruited aims to promote Educational Literacy, Life after sports, College preparation, Athletic Development, Professional Development and Alcohol and Drug Prevention.

Reggie has a big heart and a true passion to pay it forward.
